Ellis Whittam has announced a unique new training course for education providers.
The new course, entitled Managing Health & Safety Risks in the Education Sector is the only course of its kind in the country and is accredited by IOSH (the Institution for Occupational Safety and Health). It pays particular attention to the unique responsibilities of teaching environments and the duty to protect children.
The course is a version of the generic IOSH Managing Safely course but totally focused on the requirements of education providers. Notably, the course runs over two days rather than the usual four, in response to requests from education providers who recognise the importance of having the skills within their management team but cannot spare the time.
The syllabus is wide and varied taking in such topics as identifying hazards, risk assessment and accident investigation with a particular emphasis on the requirements of a teaching environment.
Nick Wilson, Ellis Whittam’s Director of Health & Safety Services and member of the IOSH Council, said: “This is the only training course of its kind in the country and it’s a credit to my colleagues who designed the course that IOSH saw fit to give it their seal of approval. Delegates attending this course will be able to make a real positive impact on the wellbeing of staff and students back in their workplace.”
