Are you meeting your pension auto-enrolment duties?
If not, you should be! The Pensions Regulator will be visiting businesses to conduct spot checks across the UK in the upcoming weeks to see whether employers are meeting their legal obligations. If employers are not compliant, this will lead to enforcement action.
Checks have already been carried out on employers in London and Great Manchester.
Darren Ryder, the Pensions Regulator’s Acting Director of Automatic Enrolment, commented: “The vast majority of employers become compliant ahead of their deadline but visits help us to identify why some have not, so we can take action where we need to.”
Naming and shaming
A few weeks ago, the Pensions Regulator publicly named those employers who have not fulfilled their auto-enrolment responsibilities. This was the first time this has been done.
They listed the names of those employers who have secured a court order for not fulfilling their auto-enrolment responsibilities and not paying the fine for non-compliance. They also named those employers who have paid their fine but still remain non-compliant.
