As we have reported previously, the Government is committed to increasing the number of apprenticeship opportunities in the coming years. To assist in funding this, an Apprenticeship Levy is to be introduced in April 2017. Employers will be required to pay a levy of 0.5% of their total gross annual pay bill, subject to an annual allowance of £15,000 per employer, which means that this will only affect those employers with a gross pay bill in excess of £3 million.
As with the Gender Pay Gap Reporting consultation, the Government is inviting comments on this proposal, which must be received by 2nd March 2016. Details can be found here.
